During the promotions of Peddi, veteran actor Jagapathi Babu spoke openly about his role in Pushpa 2 and shared insights into how the film’s extended runtime led to creative changes. The actor revealed details about the split between Pushpa 2 and Pushpa 3, and expressed his admiration for director Sukumar.
Pushpa 2 Role Shortened Due to Runtime
Talking about Pushpa 2, Jagapathi Babu revealed that his character was reduced because of the film’s lengthy runtime. He explained that Pushpa 2 and Pushpa 3 were originally planned as one complete story, but the makers later decided to split it into two parts.
“My character got shortened because of the film’s length. Initially, Pushpa Part 2 and Part 3 were one complete story. Since the runtime became too long, they split it into two films. I will be seen in the third part, and this time, I’ll even have to go bald for the make-up,” he shared.
No Disappointment, Only Respect for Sukumar
The actor made it clear that he holds no disappointment towards director Sukumar. He praised the filmmaker and emphasized that creative decisions should never be questioned by actors.
“We should never put pressure on a director’s creativity. I can never point fingers at Sukumar garu. He has always supported me and never treated me unfairly. Even after Pushpa 2, he personally told me that things did not go as planned and promised to compensate for it in the third part. That is enough for me,” Jagapathi Babu stated.
He added that he never interferes with a director’s vision and deeply respects filmmakers for their unique thought process.
“I would never disturb a director’s thinking or force my expectations onto him. Directors are different people altogether — almost like saints. Their thought process works on another level,” he said.
High Confidence on Peddi
Speaking about Peddi, Jagapathi Babu sounded extremely confident about the film’s success. The actor revealed that he has landed a powerful role in the movie and believes it will strike big at the box office.
“This is a very good film, and I got an excellent role in it. I am confident that Peddi will become a huge blockbuster,” he said, adding that he remains passionate about acting and loves to stay busy with work.
